Electro-arc metal spray equipments

Type M45
Currently, there are 22 electro-arc metal spray equipments operating in the Czech Republic. The first machine was sold in the Czech Republic in 2006. In Slovakia, Poland, and Ukraine, one machine currently operates in each.
Most machines are used by companies, which provide contract anticorrosive metal surface treatment.
Application - aluminium anticorrosive surface treatment of columns.
Application - an automatic line for aluminium anticorrosive surface treatment of columns.
Some of the equipment is used for specific applications, e.g. OMC Scientific Czech Company, Louny, applies high roughness functional aluminium coatings; ArcelorMittal Poland S.A. applies functional coatings to guide rollers of pipe production lines.
Our company has demonstration equipment – we will gladly demonstrate it at your station and on your (jetted) components. To make an appointment for a demonstration, contact our technician, Mr. Šedivý or company executive Ing. Pavlica.
Technical data
Surface pre-treatment
Before zinc (aluminium) metal spraying with electro-arc spray equipments, the surface of the treated components must be clear of all grease and oil, and it must be blasted to reach the surface cleanliness Sa 2.5 to 3 (Sa 3), following the ČSN ISO 8501.
So that a quality zinc (aluminium) coating of ca 100 um can be retained, the blasted surface should have the surface roughness of Ramin. = 4 um – we recommend 10 um (Ramin. = 6 um – we recommend 12 um ) and Rmmin.= 25 um – we recommend 60 um (Rmmin.= 35 um – we recommend 80 um).
The above mentioned roughness figures can only be accomplished when blasting with grit abrasive.

Electro-metallizing process
Two electrically conductive wires, between which an electric arc burns, are melted. The melted metal is sprayed (by compressed air in a jet) towards the surface of a sprayed product (the sprayed surface must be pre-treated by blasting).
Application
The equipment is especially intended for anticorrosive Zn, Zn Al, and Al coating, but it can also be used for decorative or functional coating (steel, Cu, bronze, brass, etc.). Commonly, 2 mm wire diameter is used; if ordered, it is possible to deliver equipment for using wires with 1.6 or 2.5 mm diameters. Standard length of connecting cables is 9 m; if ordered, the connecting cable can be 14 m long (without the connecting unit).
Advantages of electro-metallizing
Compared to the gas process (using acetylene or propane), the running costs can be up to 90% lower. The spraying performance is several times higher. Current relation of prices offers an investment return for spraying 3,100 kg Zn (or 2,300 kg Zn Al, 1,200 kg Al) for acetylene spraying or 5,000 kg Zn (or 3,700 kg Zn Al, 2,600 kg Al) for propane spraying.
High quality coating and operating reliability of the equipment are standard.
